About the Host

Passionate About Encouraging and Inspiring Others to move from the Safe Zone to the Faith Zone

Courtney Dawn Shaw is an author, speaker, minister, certified personal trainer TV/Radio Host, and Mrs. Florida America 2014/15. From a very early age she was a competitive dancer, soccer player, and ran in the Junior Olympics with a winning cross-country team.

She has worked with clients and churches over the last 10+years, encouraging and inspiring them to live free and healthy lives from the inside out. Her life experience of overcoming body image issues, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts, and a near death experience brought her to a place of brokenness and surrender to God. Since her junior year in high school, she has pursued the fulfillment of God’s purpose and plan for her life. With years of experience in the fitness industry, she has been given a clear revelation and message on where true value, beauty, and health come from.

Her platform as Mrs. Florida America and beyond is to work with individuals and teams of people who can develop and implement solutions which will bring an end to the growing epidemic of obesity, diabetes, and any related diseases. Approximately 90 million Americans are considered obese, and doctors agree that children being born today may be the first generation to not outlive their parents due to Type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, today it is all too common for most everyone in America to have someone in their family being affected.

As a wife, mother of 2 young children, and a certified personal trainer, she have a passion to ensure that her family is leading a healthy and fit lifestyle. It is her purpose to help educate, equip, and empower families to do the same. After experiencing the frustrations of family members who were sick, many hospitalized, and others actually dying because of these health conditions, she and her husband were inspired to do something different.

They authored and published an accountability curriculum meant to encourage a national health and wellness movement, and called it the FIT 2-B FREE Movement. Participants join a 12-week journey to identify root causes of their unhealthy life habits, and with leadership and accountability they begin to implement fulfilling life changes. They have trained people nationwide to be Freedom Ambassadors and lead organized groups with the curriculum. They are blending physical activity with mental and spiritual exercise.

FIT 2-B FREE Movement is recognized as the hands and feet in the faith-based community, of our First Lady’s “Let’s Move” initiative, and an official partner with the President’s Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition Counsel. They are on a mission to help 1 million people earn the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award. They will establish a lasting legacy of health and wholeness for America.

Courtney worked at Champion Preparatory Academy with children grades K-12, leading chapel, coaching soccer, and FIT 2-B FREE Movement classes. She personally trained small groups weekly through the curriculum. She also hosted a show called “Let’s Chat,” where she was able to share her passion and expertise.

Courtney was the Outreach Coordinator & TV Co-Host at Good Life TV45 in Orlando, FL..

Prior to the pageant, she was the recipient of the Power Promise Organization’s 2014 Bountiful Butterfly Award, where she was among ten esteemed women in Central Florida. She was recognized for making a significant impact in the lives of community families and youth, specifically in the area of health and fitness. She also received a Congressional Recognition for her services in the 5th District of Florida. She has become a community advocate for the American Heart Association, and has participated in a disease prevention campaigns which focus on education to better equip Floridians to lead more healthy lifestyles. In 2011, Courtney and her husband combined their expertise in the medical, fitness, and ministry professions to author and publish an accountability curriculum called the FIT 2-B FREE Movement. It was recognized by the President’s Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition Counsel as an official “Let’s Move” partner in helping bring an end to the epidemic of obesity, diabetes, and commonly related illnesses. The mission was to help 1 million people earn the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award, and establish a lasting legacy of health and wholeness for America.
